The warm days have finally arrived, bringing longer hours of daylight with it. That means you’ll have more time in the evenings to embark on adventures with friends – and what better way to spend your evenings than going on a brewery tour? LIC has gained a reputation for its stellar breweries that craft local beers. Here’s a list of some of the best local breweries that you can try on the ultimate LIC brewery tour.

Fifth Hammer Brewing Company- 10-28 46th Ave, Long Island City

Open seven days a week, Fifth Hammer Brewing Company is a brewery and taproom located in the heart of Queens. This Queens staple first opened in 2017 and features approximately 12 draughts that lean heavily on IPAs. Be sure to stop by on Wednesday evenings to take in a live evening of saxophone music. From their delicious brews to their welcoming environment, it’s not hard to understand why Fifth Hammer has become a favorite amongst locals and visitors alike.

ROCKAWAY BREWING COMPANY- 46-01 5TH ST, QUEENS, NY

There’s plenty of things that makes Rockaway Brewing Company unique, but the fact that they were the first brewery in Queens is at the top of the list. Established in 2012, this neighborhood microbrewery has become a neighborhood hotspot. Rockaway Brewing is most well known for their experimental tastings, as well as personal and party size growlers. They feature eight brews on tap with the ESB, an extra special bitter, serving as their calling card.

LIC BEER PROJECT- 39-28 23RD ST, QUEENS, NY

As a boutique craft brewery and taphouse, LIC Beer Project is located a couple blocks north of Queens Boulevard. The brewery first opened its doors in 2015 and has since become a popular place to grab a drink or meet up with a friend. LIC Beer Project boasts approximately 10 brews on tap at a time. You’ll find brews such as the pale ales Coded Tiles and Dream Shovel, as well as a varied assortment of IPAs.

ICONYC BREWING- 43-63 11TH ST, QUEENS, NY

No LIC brewery tour is complete without a stop to Iconyc Brewing, a brewery and beer garden in Queens. Since being founded in 2016, Iconyc originally operated as a wholesale business out of a small basement brewing setup. They eventually moved operations to its current location in Long Island City where they constructed a production brewery, taproom, and beer garden. Its new location puts it within walking distance of many other local Queens brewerie, making it a great pit stop on your LIC brewery tour. Visitors can choose from around 10 beers, with an emphasis on lagers and aisons.

BIG ALICE BREWING- 8-08 43RD RD, LONG ISLAND CITY

Since first opening in 2013, Big aLICe Brewing has been committed to crafting innovative, locally-sourced beer. The company’s founders connected with local CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) and Food Co-ops to find the best, fresh, organic ingredients to ensure the highest quality products. As a nano-brewery, Big aLICe specializes in small batches of beer, which gives them the flexibility to be creative and experiment with flavors. Guests can stop by the taproom for onsite drinking and choose from flights, pints, and growler fills. Some of the most popular flavors include the Sour One, Freedom Bock, Hibiscus Goes-uh, and the Cascade Single Hop Sur.
